Acceptable Use Policy

Effective 7 September 2026 · Applies to LEVIER and all LEVIER products

This policy sets the boundaries for using LEVIER products. It forms part of the Terms of Service. It exists to keep the platforms safe, lawful and usable for everyone — the rules below are the ones we will actually enforce.

1. Content you may not post or store

Do not upload, list, transmit or store anything that:

  • Is unlawful in South Africa, or in a jurisdiction you are trading into.
  • Infringes someone else’s intellectual property, trade marks or trade secrets.
  • Is defamatory, harassing, threatening, or incites violence or hatred against a person or group.
  • Constitutes hate speech or incitement as defined in South African law.
  • Is sexually explicit, or depicts the abuse or exploitation of children in any form.
  • Discloses someone’s personal information without a lawful basis to do so.
  • Contains malware, exploits or hidden malicious code.
  • Is deliberately false or misleading about a product, price, availability or condition.

2. Goods you may not list

On Shake and Sell, you may not list or sell:

  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives or their components.
  • Illegal drugs, precursors, or drug paraphernalia.
  • Stolen goods, or goods you cannot prove title to.
  • Counterfeit or unlawfully replicated goods.
  • Protected wildlife, ivory, or any product requiring a permit you do not hold.
  • Equipment with safety certifications removed, tampered with, or falsified.
  • Agricultural chemicals, pesticides or veterinary medicines without the registrations and permits required by law.
  • Anything requiring a licence to sell that you do not hold.

If a category is regulated, it is your responsibility to hold the correct registrations and to say so accurately in your listing.

3. Conduct

Do not:

  • Probe, scan or test the vulnerability of our systems without our prior written permission.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account, server or network.
  • Circumvent authentication, rate limits, usage quotas or billing.
  • Scrape, crawl or bulk-extract data except through an API we have provided, within its documented limits.
  • Interfere with the service through excessive load, denial-of-service, or resource exhaustion.
  • Resell, sublicense or white-label the products without a written agreement with us.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone.
  • Use the platform to launder money, evade sanctions, or evade tax.
  • Manipulate marketplace signals — fake listings, fake enquiries, fake reviews, artificial bidding.

4. Messaging and marketing

  • Do not send unsolicited bulk messages through our platforms.
  • If you use our tools to email your own customers, you must have a lawful basis to contact them, include an unsubscribe mechanism, and honour opt-outs promptly. This is required by POPIA and the Consumer Protection Act.
  • Do not use in-product messaging on Shake or Sell to divert a transaction off-platform to avoid fees, or to solicit users for unrelated purposes.

5. Security research

We welcome good-faith vulnerability reports. If you believe you have found a security issue, email admin@levier.co.za with enough detail to reproduce it. Please give us a reasonable opportunity to fix it before disclosing publicly, do not access or modify data belonging to anyone else, and do not degrade the service while testing. We will not pursue action against researchers who follow this.

6. Automation, APIs and AI

  • Use our APIs within their documented rate limits. Contact us if you need higher limits.
  • Do not use automated tools to create accounts in bulk.
  • Do not use data obtained from our platforms to train machine learning models without our written permission and a lawful basis for the personal information involved.
  • If you use AI to generate listings or descriptions, you remain fully responsible for their accuracy.

7. How we enforce this

If we believe this policy has been breached, we may — proportionate to the breach:

  • Ask you to fix the problem within a stated period.
  • Remove or hide the offending content or listing.
  • Apply rate limits or restrict features.
  • Suspend the account.
  • Terminate the account and, where required, report the matter to the authorities.

We will usually give notice and a chance to correct the issue first. We may act immediately without notice where there is a serious risk of harm, a legal obligation to act, or an active threat to the platform’s security.

8. Reporting a problem

To report content, a listing or behaviour that breaches this policy, email admin@levier.co.za with the URL or account, what the problem is, and any supporting detail. We review every report and will tell you the outcome where it is appropriate to do so.

9. Appeals

If we have restricted your account and you believe we got it wrong, reply to the notice we sent or email us. We will review the decision and respond within 14 days.
